Julius O. Motajo

My name is Julius O. Motajo fondly called “aka” GM. I started primary school in 1961 at Saint Mathias Catholic School Lafiaji, Lagos. In 1970 I attended Saint Michael preparatory school, I then proceeded to premier College Yaba, Lagos in 1971, where I spent a year and transferred to Methodist Boys High School Lagos in 1972. In 1978 I started working with RT. Brisco, Oshodi, Lagos, as a credit representative. In the year 1979 I move to the United States. By 1980 gained admission into South Eastern University, Washington D.C. I later on transferred to University District of Columbia Washington D.C in 1982, where I finally earned my B.A in Art 1987.

In 1983, I formed an association in United States called Nigeria Patriotic Association (N.P.A) with the following people Benjamin Omili, Lanre Banjo and Kola Akanni, of which I was made the president. N.P.A was later transformed to National conscience party (N.C.P). This was formed by Chief Gani Fawehinmi of his blessed memory. My aim then was to correct some of the ills in the country, like the case of Umaru Dikko and Joseph Wayas in 1984, while they were trying to get asylum into U.S. The Association protested against the issuing of Visa to Joseph Wayas and Umaru Dikko to gain admission into United States during the Shagari regime. The protest was granted by the U.S State Department. Umaru and Wayas later travel to London where Umaru Dikko was kidnap during the administration of Gen. Buhari and the late Gen. Idiagbon.

A year before I graduated from school in 1986, I started my entertainment career in Washington DC. In this same year, I promoted General Ayinla kollington in Washington D.C together with my friend Lanre Banjo. This was my first promotion that brought me to entertainment industry.

In 1989, I went into full promotion and a company was formed known as GM Intercontinental Arts, Musical and Film Production, starting with Warrior – The Oriental Brothers. In 1990, I sponsored Wasiu Ayinde Marshal known as Kwam 1. Due to popular demand, warrior was brought back to U.S for other great lifetime performances in 1991.

Obesere also known as “Omorapala” was sponsored by GMI Records to the U.S on two occasions in 1992 and 1994 respectively. In 1993 I sponsored Jombo’s Express of “Mama African” to U.S for a live performance.

In the year 1994, a prominent Igbo musician, the late Chief Osita Osadebe was sponsored for a lifetime performance in U.S. In 1995, VISA application was filed for the late Oliver D-Coque to perform live in U.S. In 1996, I brought the following Artist to U.S. They are Kola Ogunkoya popularly known as Gbedu Master, Yomi Peter, Adekunle Alao Malika, with these I ended my promotion in the U.S and I later moved back to Nigeria to continue my entertainment promotion called GMI Records in the city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, which is my State of Origin. While in Nigeria the following artist records were released, they are Sunny Nneji in 1997 and 2000 his Album titled – MR, FANTASTIC AND ROFO-ROFO respectively.

In 2001, Taiye Akande Currency his album titled. FUJI MILLENIUM was released. Daddy Showkey with his album titled - SOMEBODY TUNLESE, SOMEBODY DALERU was release in 2002, last but not least was Shola Majeed – His album titled “THE WAY” was released in 2004.

These are highlights of some of my achievement in the entertainment industry. I am aspiring to effect a change especially among the youths in the bed rock and pillars of the nation.

My objective of forming this association is to educate and unite the youths under one umbrella for the purpose of electing the right leaders to lead the people in the right direction. Also to implement some of the following:

1. Unemployment benefits for the (NYSC graduates) between 6-18 months.
2. More Universities, technical schools, polytechnic schools and special schools for the handicap
3. Job creation: two to three million jobs every year.
4. Good health care scheme with fully equipped hospitals, and good clean drinking water.
5. Adult education for the uneducated (The Agbero’s, Area Boy’s, Okada operators and Street hawkers).
6. Implementation of budget awarded.
7. 24 hours of uninterrupted electricity.
8. Security for lives and properties
9. Free education for ages 5-18
10. Granting by federal, state scholarships and loans to the qualified and less privilege university students.

The above mentioned listed can be achieved if all youth come together to elect the right leaders. The future of the country is in the hands of the youth. They are the leaders of tomorrow.

In conclusion, this is the beginning of a revolution; we should revolutionize our society with our voices and votes, for a better Nigeria.

Thanks and God bless
